Shandowlyon Reaves is a candidate for Wisconsin State Assembly District 11 in Milwaukee and a longtime educator, administrator, community leader, and advocate for children and families.
Shandowlyon Reaves is a wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and advocate who has spent her life working to ensure every child has a fair chance to succeed.
From classrooms to community boards, she’s led with compassion, integrity, and accountability.

Our Priorities
for District 11
We believe that a thriving community starts with a fair and just system. As a dedicated advocate for Wisconsin Assembly District 11, we are committed to building a future where every family has access to quality education, economic opportunity, and safe streets. Our vision is rooted in empathy and accountability, ensuring that our government serves the people it represents with integrity and compassion.
Safety is not political — it’s personal. If elected, I will work towards:

Making streets safe for families, children, seniors, bus riders, and bicyclists

Infrastructure changes that curb speeding and reduce car crashes - with a focus on high risk areas

Safe driver education

Focusing on safety, lighting and accessibility for public transportation users

Use of concrete and pavement on streets, alleys and sidewalks that is reliable and built to last.

Repairing potholes in streets and alleys

Eliminating paving and concrete crumbling in streets, alleys and sidewalks as well as curbs
-
Sewer Systems that prevent sewer backup and flooding
-
Repair and replacement of old deteriorated sewer pipes, water mains, etc.

Education for Every Child in D11
Every student deserves a great school, every teacher deserves support. If I am elected I will commit to:

Proclaiming Parents’ Right to Choose the best school for their child (public, charter, choice, virtual, home, blended).

Investing in literacy and special education

Champion a Statewide Legacy Program for Teachers acknowledging and celebrating teachers who have a parent, child or grandchild who is also a teacher

Economic Opportunity in D11
North Milwaukee’s strength is its people. If I am elected, I will work to:

Cut red tape for small businesses.

Develop 4 “main streets"

Stabilize our neighborhoods.

Promote homeownership and neighborhood renewal.

Keep homeowners in their homes, particularly seniors

Healthy Families
Social determinants of health should not be lower in District 11. If elected, I am committed to:

Supporting seniors and caregivers.

Improving access to fresh, healthy foods to improve health outcomes

Advocating for a co-responder model for police responding to mental health-related calls
-
Addressing shootings, murders, death by reckless use of automobiles, etc. on Milwaukee’s north side

Proposals, for example Solutions for Food Deserts and North Side Violence & Reckless Driving Reduction Strategy.


Transparent Government
Government should serve, not rule. If I am elected, you can count on me to :

Implement my First 100‑Day Accountability Plan.
